Adware
Adware is short for advertising-supported software. Most adware is harmless, but can annoy users with pop-up and banner ads. The ads themselves can prove to be a distraction and the content can be confusing, causing the user to inadvertently click on the ad.
Some adware is more harmful, behaving like spyware. It collects and reports user data without the user’s knowledge or can actually harm the user’s system.
