New reports from security firms suggest that malware infections and email spam has dropped in the month of February.
Security firm Panda show that users of its software experienced a decrease in malware threats and detection with figures dropping from 50% to 39% from the previous month.
Symantec have also reported that spam rates fell in February.
Security experts claim that the drop is not necessarily a reflection of improved security software, but rather a sign of the change in tactics used by cyber criminals. Cyber criminals are now shifting their efforts to attacking social networking websites and mobile devices.
