WebEasy Professional 10 certainly lives up to its name – this website design software is incredibly easy to use. WebEasy has fewer features and less room for customization, however, so what you gain in convenience you lose in creativity.
Create a website in minutes with no specialist HTML knowledge required. Does the WebEasy Professional 10 software match up to its promises? We checked out the features in this popular web design software package.
When you start you are presented with the Web Assistant and taken through the process of choosing a template, customizing the design, editing the images and text then publishing. The step-by-step approach is extremely easy to master. Web Easy is software not web-based, so you can only work on your website on the computer you’ve installed the software on.
WYSIWG & HTML editing - You don’t need any HTML skills at all. WebEasy Professional uses drag-and-drop techniques to create your website and generates the HTML code that works with popular browsers.
Templates & graphics - There are over 500 templates available with the WebEasy software so you should be able to find something to suit you. The templates are split into categories including Business, Hobbies and Events and Family and Personal. There are a lot to look through, so it may take you a while to find the perfect match. Many of the templates are optimized for mobile devices and some are particularly specific – WebEasy has templates for all kinds of clubs, active sports, culture organizations, rock bands. Choose from these industry - and leisure-specific templates that have images built in and text added. You can leave it as it is, or adjust the layout, pictures and text with the Web Assistant. The only downside to the templates is you can do less to personalize them than with other website design software.
You can convert images to web-ready formats i.e. GIF, JPEG but the software doesn’t feature an advanced photo editor. You can use some of the thousands of royalty-free images or edit your own photos in an external program and add to your site.
Navigation & layout - The templates contain all the working navigation links so you don’t need to worry about how your website fits together.
Photo gallery - It’s possible to create photo albums for your website using the software. Photo pages come in different themes and you can add descriptions if needed.
Video & Adobe Flash - Add YouTube videos to your site and videos from Media Player and other popular programs.
Blogs - There’s a wizard to set up your own blog to go on your Web Easy website. Another useful add-on feature is the podcast – create your own announcements, videos, music, news shows and add them to your website. This process is pretty easy with the software adding the content for you automatically once you’ve created it.
Google maps - Integrate Google maps onto your website to give your business a place in the world. Other websites and services you can integrate include MySpace, Facebook, Flickr and Picasa.
Banner advertising - If you want to make a little money from your website, you can easily integrate Google Adsense.
Booking system - You can integrate Google AdWords and also pick up some Google AdWords credit with your software package purchase.
Search engine optimization tools are included in the package. Specifically, Web CEO which combines with WebEasy to provide tools that promote your site and report back on your success.
If you need an online store, you can easily create one with Web Easy. Grab everything you need like shopping carts, email capture, secure transaction processing and more to create a store that makes it easy to shop. The Web Easy package is linked with PayPal so you can add a shopping cart for customers.
Another handy feature is the ability to create web pages that are eBay-friendly, potentially increasing your eBay sales by showcasing your goods on a professional-looking website.
Web hosting - Hosting is free but you only get three months without paying. One of the good things about the publishing process in WebEasy is you get to see your website live almost immediately after you publish it, making it easy to test how it looks and make any changes. You get 25GB of storage, 250GB of bandwidth and your own personalized domain name and personalized email addresses.
You get statistics on website use built-in to your site but the results are rather limited. You can also put dynamic forms into your site so you can collect information from visitors to turn into emails and notifications.
The software is easy to use and instinctively designed. If there aren't step-by-step setup wizards there is an easy-to-understand drag-and-drop function. You don’t need to look at a line of HTML code. It may take you a few hours to become completely familiar with the program but the basics flow quickly and easily.
However, if something does go wrong you won’t be able to check the code to see what the problem is. Some users reported difficulties with the previous version of WebEasy Professional, but version 10 seems to be a lot smoother.
Help and support is particularly strong with Web Easy, which is great if you are unsure about how to do something or your software isn’t working as it should. You can search through the knowledge base and the FAQs, log into live chat, email a question or place an order by phone.
The WebEasy Professional 10 gives you all you need to set up and publish a website, whether you are a business or you want a site for family and friends.
