The new facility allows business and organizations to add pages to their social networking profile.
Larry Page, Google Founder and current CEO posted on his profile: "Super excited we are launching pages today.. everyone's favorite brands — companies, not for profits — can get their page on Google Plus".
The feature is very similar to the way social networking website Facebook allows its users to add their own pages. Google Plus is now seen as a very direct threat to both Facebook and Twitter.
Google was initially reluctant to allow business to join its network as it looked to establish its user base first. Companies that had to tried to register for the network were removed. However, several high profile brands such as Toyota and Pepsi have now got their own pages.
Google Plus pages is now open to companies, organizations, celebrities and sports teams.
