Full review
In operation since 2004, the Mr Site brand offers easy website creation packages as well as web hosting and ecommerce solutions. Mr Site prides itself on a service that is easy to use – but how effective is the software and does it match up to the claims? We checked out the package to find out.

One of the easiest ways to get your website online is to buy one of the Mr Site Takeaway Website packages. The Beginner has five pages, one shop page, five email addresses and 75MB of space, Standard has 50 pages, 49 shop pages, 20 email addresses, and 150MB space, while the Pro gives you 99 web pages, 98 shop pages, 50 emails, 600MB of space and extra features.
For other online website creation plans, Mr Site gives you the Starter plan - equivalent to 2.50GBP a month, with five pages and one shop page – the Classic plan, 5GBP a month for 50 pages (49 of which can be shop pages), 500MB storage space, 20 email addresses, and 2GB bandwidth, and the Pro plan – 10GBP a month for 100 pages (98 of which can be shop pages), 750MB storage space, 50 email addresses, and unlimited bandwidth. The Seller package (20GBP a month) is a bit different, offering unlimited shop pages and a host of ecommerce features plus the regular website tools. For all plans you pay in one annual fee and if you want the software to come in a box you add on several pounds for postage.
Design Options
Once you’ve signed up for a plan you are presented with an Overview of your site which lets you know how many pages you have and what’s on those pages. By using the option “edit my site” you can choose a theme for the website, and then add images and text plus extra widgets where available. There are some customization options that don’t require code, for example color, fonts and background. There’s no shortage of themes available with Mr Site and you can preview a new theme without making the changes permanent; a good way to test drive how your website would look with a different design and feel.
Widgets
Use the social media plug-ins to link visitors to your Facebook and Twitter feeds, and add a blog to get your news and views out there in the world. In addition to blogging you can invite visitor comment by using the forum feature where people post questions and comments about your site. With the Classic plan you can add a poll. The Seller package adds on extra widgets such as featured products and categories, and recently viewed products.
Features
Ecommerce - For ecommerce you’re going to want to choose the Seller plan. Other Mr Site plans offer some ecommerce facilities (Starter gives you one shop page, Classic up to 49, and Pro up to 98) but the Seller package is specially produced for ecommerce with unlimited shop pages. You get to add multiple, zoom images and slideshows for your products, integrate with PayPal and other payment solutions, manage your inventory, promote your products and boost your sales with built-in SEO. You may not get all of the features as you would with a standalone ecommerce package but we think your online store will look great and be easy to manage with a Mr Site Seller package.
SEO – Mr Site offers built-in meta tags, plus Google Analytics compatibility. With the Pro plan you get a keyword boost tool, a site map creator and a set of visitor statistics.
Hosting & domains
One good feature included with every Mr Site website is a free domain name, plus hosting. You also get personalized email accounts. This cuts out the hassle of setting up your domain with another provider and ensures everything is safe in the same place.
Ease of use
Mr Site does live up to its promise of being easy to use. You can put together a nice-looking site in a short time by dragging and dropping elements and clicking on items to change them. You don’t need to use code and publishing is easy with just one click.
Help & support
We found getting in touch with the Mr Site team to be straightforward and stress-free. You can send an email for support queries, or chat online with an agent. Find a range of different topics and resources on the website which help you to set up your site, manage any issues you encounter and make changes to your account.
Overall
Mr Site is really for the novice or beginner website creator and not especially for a web designer or someone who wants a lot of access to code and a lot of server space. If you are looking for a simple to use, no-fuss way to publish and host a website then you’ll find the Mr Site offering a good match for your needs.
