Setup

Installing and setting up the software is an easy task. The user simply selects a language, follows the onscreen prompts and the software is up and running. The copy settings can be configured once the main window is launched and since the software has an inbuilt decryptor the user simply needs to insert a disc to begin the burning process.

Copy features

DVD Copy Express may not have some of the advanced features found in some of the other DVD copying software but it certainly does do its job well. The primary capability of the software is to make high quality 1:1 copies of the entire contents in a DVD movie. Alternatively, users can choose to select specific content they want the software to copy and can leave out special features such as commentary tracks, subtitles and movie trailers to save disc space.

The software enables users to make backups of movies on to their hard drive to copy to a DVD. The built-in decryptor ensures that all protection methods are removed so that the DVDs can be copied. Additionally, Xilisoft also provides tools to convert movies into other formats so that they can be played on portal devices.

Speed & quality

The output quality of DVD movie copies is excellent even when video files are compressed. The burning times are average and it takes about 40 minutes to copy a 90 minute DVD movie which is decent given the quality of the final product.
